How the youth are helping India grow into a superpower

A country is as strong as its people, and India’s youth play a pivotal role in shaping our today as well as tomorrow. In fact, the youth are not just an important resource of knowledge building and wealth, but are also responsible for bringing about social changes and progress.

The way we shape the future generations is how we ultimately shape our coming years. The youth are like fresh clay, and can be moulded in any way. From giving the right education to laying a solid foundation based on moral values and ethics, it is essential that we create the right building blocks in order to empower our youth and lead them on the right path to success and enlightenment.

If you look back in time and dig deep into the historical archives of India, you will see that our youth of yesteryears actively participated in the struggle for freedom and served the nation with their courage, bravery and fervor. Today, we may not be struggling for our freedom, but we do have a long way to go in establishing ourselves as a progressive country that goes beyond the ‘third world’ bracket.

Taking this important cue, The Skills Academy, which is an initiative by The Ponty Chadha Foundation has strived to harness the inherent skills and talent in our youth, who belong to the underprivileged sections of society. The sole aim and overarching vision of The Skills Academy is to bridge the gap between the poor and rich, and to build a society that thrives on equal opportunities and rights.

From teaching the youth on how to be efficient security guards to understanding what it takes to ace housekeeping, The Skills Academy does not only equip the students with the required expertise that can help them earn, but also gives them a way of life that can be sustained and improved in times to come.

In today’s day and age, the youth require a wide access to information and opportune moments that can help them thrive. When the youth understand the importance of empowerment, they automatically uplift the society and become the forerunners for positive change. Let us, hence, take a pledge to pave brighter, positive ways for our youth and help India prosper the right way!

Republic Day Contest Alert: Guess The Sign & Win BIG

Republic Day is a pivotal day in India, and as citizens, we take immense pride in celebrating the many facets of being Indian. Besides the vibrant parade on television that has everyone glued to their TV sets at home, it is a day for us to look back at our rich heritage and cultural history, while looking forward and paving the way with opportunities galore for future generations.

Keeping up with the patriotic spirit this year, The Ponty Chadha Foundation is taking the #ConnectingSigns a level up, and is encouraging users to participate in an exciting and brain-tingling contest that will begin on 23rd January, and close on the 25th.

How does the contest work?

Starting 23rd January, The Ponty Chadha Foundation’s Facebook and Twitter pages will share video snippets, which would be cuts from the original ‘National Anthem in Sign Language’ video. The audience will be asked to guess the signs enacted by the special children.

The users will have to guess and comment using the hashtag #GuessTheSign.

Simple, right?

With the invigorating and fun-filled #GuessTheSign contest, The Ponty Chadha Foundation will not just get people to participate and showcase their knowledge on sign language, but it will also be a grand opportunity for lucky winners to walk away with grand prizes.

Empowering the less privileged – Kaushal Mela

The Ponty Chadha Foundation has always strived to give back to the society, and help light the way for those who seek better horizons, and a better future for themselves. India, despite the tremendous progress over the years, has thousands of unemployed youth who struggle to make their mark. Regardless of their inherent skills and talents, the underprivileged sections of society don’t get the same level of opportunities as those who have proper resources and education.

Besides helping those in need in whatever way possible, The Ponty Chadha Foundation has always imparted robust training through their Skills Academy, which is an exclusive initiative for the unemployed youth. From housekeeping to learning how to be efficient security guards, The Ponty Chadha Foundation takes immense pride in serving, helping and presenting the right latitudes, which help the underprivileged youth succeed and carve a niche for themselves in the society.

Keeping the vision in mind, The Ponty Chadha Foundation recently organised a large scale job fair called Kaushal Mela, which was conducted on December 19th, at Dhaulana in Hapur. This initiative founds its wings through the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna & Skill India. The job fair brought together some of the country’s leading organisations and job seekers under one roof, and provided employment opportunities to the disadvantaged youth.

156 candidates participated in this job fair, out of which 24 were selected for different job roles.
The event was attended by various dignitaries from the area, including chief guest Deepa Ranjan (IAS), CDO, the SDM and the BDO of Dhaulana.

Christmas and New Year Celebrations at MBCN

Christmas is all about sharing and being generous. It is a time where people come together to give and receive, and spread the love and mirth wherever they go. With the festive spirit in full swing, the staff and volunteers at The Ponty Chadha Foundation left no stone unturned in touching lives and making a difference in the world of the underprivileged.

On December 24th, a special winter carnival was organised, wherein several stalls were placed. The stalls featured exciting and engaging games like Lucky 7, glass game, marble game, ring game, coin game, and Abra Ka Dabra. Besides this, the guests could indulge in their favourite foods like Chole Bhature, Jalebi, Biryani, Pizza, Chinese delights, and South Indian snacks. The crowd spanned across all age groups and backgrounds, and it was heartwarming to see everyone come together and enjoy themselves in the best way possible.

This year, the special attraction at the winter carnival was the ‘Let’s Share’ Corner, where people could donate things like toys, clothes, stationery, books, home furnishings etc. The purpose of this corner was to not just provide to those in need, but to also encourage children to share with others.

Djembe Circle, an open drumming platform, was also a major highlight at the carnival, which was a not-for-profit initiative that stands for different causes, and promotes harmony through music and various stage acts. This drum-based therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythms to promote healing and self expression. It also allows people to be involved in a hands-on way. Needless to say, it was a hit with the guests. The carnival also had a Pink Corner, which was to raise awareness around crimes against women.

The one thing that the children anxiously waited for towards the end of the carnival was Santa, who came like a whirlwind and delighted everyone with different surprise gifts. The sheer happiness on the children’s faces says it all!

The fun-filled day ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vandana Sharma (MBCN director).

New Year resolutions to make India a better place to live

2018 is not just a new year, but an opportunity for new beginnings, new ventures and new goals. With each passing year, The Ponty Chadha Foundation grows in its vision and dreams, and 2018 is no exception to this. It’s time for us to build greater bridges, and take humanity to a whole new level with fresh resolutions to enrich the lives of those around us.

When we speak of India on a global level, it is a country admired for its hospitality and cultural diversity. However, there are a few things that we still need to alter.

At The Ponty Chadha Foundation, we have a list of resolutions for 2018 that can help carve a brighter year ahead.

Resolution # 1

Stop littering. Everywhere you go, people either spit on the roads or throw their waste in public spaces. As a government-run initiative, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has definitely helped our environment, but we still have a long way to go in developing an inherent interest for clean and green surroundings.

Resolution # 2

More empathy and compassion towards the needy. As Indians, we lay a lot of importance on values and morals, but when it comes to day-to-day human interaction, we lack a great deal. Touching our elders’ feet is great, but do we show the same respect by offering our seat to a senior citizen on the metro?

Resolution # 3

Greater tolerance and respect. Log into Facebook, or scroll down your Twitter feed. The one thing that jumps right out is our lack of tolerance. We get offended by every little thing, and are ready to fight just for the sake of fighting and proving an irrelevant point. Let’s have more respect, and let’s be less petty in 2018.

Resolution # 4

Helping Each Other. This may seem like a simple resolution, but it is the need of the hour! If someone is getting harassed or is stranded in the middle of the road, very few of us stop to help. It’s high time we watched each other’s backs and gave more than we expect to receive.

Resolution # 5

Change the way we look at women. Women empowerment as a term has been done to death. But as a country, and as citizens, do we abide by it and live it each day of our lives? Women are still considered to be the weaker sex, and are not considered equal to men. Let’s change the way we view women. Let’s build a society based on equal rights and equal opportunities.

At the end of the day, it is important to be more human, and less materialistic. We hope that 2018 is a bright and fruitful year for all of you!

A throwback to 2017 at The Ponty Chadha Foundation

From raising awareness around disability, to creating countless ripples of change for the underprivileged, The Ponty Chadha Foundation has achieved many milestones in 2017. Empowered and self-sustaining, the resources at the PCF are shared equally, while individuals from all walks of life are made to realise their full potential, which in turn empowers them to actively participate in improving the society and overall development for mankind.

The major achievements in 2017?

Health Camps

The Ponty Chadha Foundation has led 51 successful health camps in rural areas of Ghaziabad and Noida.

Food Distribution

There were 3 major food distribution camps, which were conducted in rural areas around Delhi/NCR.

Vaakya App- 2017

MBCN, an initiative of The Ponty Chadha Foundation, launched a picture-based mobile application in 2017, which was designed to help speech impaired and differently-abled children in learning through augmentative and alternative communication. The app has been named as ‘Vaakya’ , and it is immensely helpful for people who are speech impaired, affected by autism, cerebral palsy and various other mental and physical conditions.

When it comes to building necessary skill set and harnessing talent, our MBCN teachers and staff deserve a resounding applause. The extremely talented kids at MBCN get opportunities to showcase and sell their handicrafts on the exclusive e-store.

Skills Academy

2017 has been a great year for the Skills Academy, where unemployed youth are given a chance to shine with their inherent talents and skill. Besides the expanding infrastructure, Skills Academy has helped pave a bright future for the underprivileged sections of our society.

Beyond Disability

MBCN, a pivotal pillar of The Ponty Chadha Foundation, carried out a special campaign to raise awareness around disability, called #BeyondDisability. The various activities carried out by MBCN and its staff were exclusively featured in India’s leading newspapers and media channels, such as Hindustan Times, Amar Ujala and Navodaya Times. Besides this, a live coverage was also showcased on social media channels that gave real-time updates of the events to everyone on a global scale. Needless to say, the impact has been immense, and the change has stirred many mindsets across the nation.

Connecting Signs

Connecting Signs, an initiative by The Ponty Chadha Foundation, not just educated the masses about sign language and its importance, but also made people realise that specially-abled children, despite their disabilities, have endless amounts of talents and skills that can shape the world in a wonderful and meaningful way.
